UCEM Retains Taurus Developments For Birmingham Acquisition
Taurus Developments has been appointed by the University College of Estate Management (UCEM) to advise on the acquisition of a second UK office and teaching premises. The new property will be in Birmingham.
UCEM has grown substantially in recent years and particularly since 2015 when it achieved university college status. This growth saw it move from its home of over 40 years at Whiteknights, Reading to a new home in Reading in 2016, when it relocated to 60 Queen’s Road – the acquisition and substantial refurbishment of which was managed by Taurus Developments.
Following initial discussions in the summer of 2018, Taurus Developments was retained to acquire an additional 10,000-12,000 sq ft of office and teaching space for UCEM to have as a second UK base.
Commenting on the appointment, Taurus Developments’ Michael Gibbens said:
“Having worked with the team at UCEM throughout their Reading move, I’m delighted to be able to advise them on finding and fitting out new premises in Birmingham, which will complement the existing operation in Queen’s Road.
“With the viewing process well underway, we hope to have completed the transaction in time for UCEM to be fully operational by the summer.”
